Christmas 2020 Food Bank Donations

As an important part of the charity work we’ve done this year we wanted to give to various food banks around the country - not only has food bank usage risen in recent years, the number of people forced out of work due to lockdown restrictions has been staggering.

With team members all around the country, we reached out and asked them to highlight local services in need, or that were particularly close to their heart. Below are some of those services, some information about what they do, and some of the amazing feedback we received from our donations.

Access2Funding donated for food, toys and essential items in:

  • Ayr

  • Aberdeen

  • Edinburgh

  • Seaham

  • Barnard Castle

  • Leicester

  • London

  • Cardiff

  • Liverpool

  • Birkenhead

  • Leeds

  • West Sussex

The Florrie Food Union, Liverpool

“The Florrie Food Union allows people on low incomes regular access to groceries, toiletries and clothing. We are not a food bank, we do not means test, we support people through times of hardship because more and more people are finding it harder to cope.”

Help the Homeless, Leicester

“We as a charity and our supporters truly believe our services can change and transform multiple lives for the better and help achieve the complete eradication of homelessness and rough sleeping within our city. At the heart of all our aims, objectives and overall vision is our “3 E’s” strategy, this is at the heart of all we plan and do... Enrich, Encourage and Empower.”

Access2Funding donated £500 worth of food, £150 of which was added to the original donation by Reena, pictured above, the business development executive in the area who picked the charity!

Storehouse Project, Barnard Castle

Elba Toy Appeal, London

“2020 has been a difficult year for many children due to COVID-19 and its consequences; families surviving on minimal income, experiencing grief, centres and clubs closing, adverse impact on education, mental health… the list goes on. Therefore, this makes ELBA’s annual Toy Appeal the most important one to date. From the 23rd of November until the 18th of December, ELBA will be collecting, sorting, and distributing what we hope will be an expected 10,000 toys to support children and families in need.”

Access2Funding donated £500.

cardiff foodbank

Cardiff Foodbank, South Wales

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by

The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Access2Funding donated £500.

Thank you

We have received some amazing feedback from the organisations, and are so proud to be able to help so many of the communities we are a part of,

“The volume of food delivered to local families in need has more than doubled over the last eight months, which has resulted in significant cost increases exacerbated by capital costs incurred money on changing our operational procedures to ensure Covid 19 protection for our clients and volunteers. Cash donations have helped us to keep afloat. We are indeed blessed to have organisations such as your own to support us. Many thanks!”

Haywards Heath Foodbank

Thank you so much for the donation for which we are most grateful.

The Centre Project has provided food parcels and support to over 450 households since the lockdown started. The demand continues to be high, with people requesting for items that are more specific to their needs. The donation will enable us to provide additional Christmas items in our food parcels and also get more personalised items for those people using our foodbank.

A Merry Christmas to you and your fundraising team.”

The Centre Project

“We are delighted to receive this generous donation of £500 from Access2Funding. This ensures we can continue the essential service providing emergency provisions for those people in the community experiencing difficulties, particularly at this time of year.”

CFINE (Community Food Initiative North East Scotland)

We would like to thank the team members who helped make some of these donations possible, especially those with toys that needed delivering. As always we would like to urge anyone that can, to make donations to their communities to support families that find the holiday season to be especially difficult.

We firmly believe that every person deserves a holiday full of joy, this year, and every year to come!
